As a native born Ukrainian, the current war affects me and Ukrainian culture in many aspects. I chose to portray the devastation caused by the ongoing conflict through an artistic story of a child. Through my portfolio I tried to visually translate the various struggles a child might face during war times through emotion stirring details. The most challenging aspect was choosing pieces that show authentic issues while maintaining the story's continuity. Throughout the portfolio I made sure to preserve symbols such as the continuous bear and pink backpack. With the use of this repetition, you can infer what happens to children that live in war.
This portfolio was ultimately scored a 5/5 by the AP College Board and also recognized by the BPAA as a winner of a $5,000 scholarship.
